Meet Blue the Brilliant!

It all begins with an idea. When I first started to crochet, I knew that I wanted make stuffed toys. I also knew that I wanted to use my gift to make a difference and to shine a light on areas in my community that needed support.

“It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal.”

One day, all the stars aligned! I sat in a salon getting my hair done and my stylist and friend, Rachel Prendergast, owner of Ranew Salon & Spa in Newport, Rhode Island just happened to mention some friends of hers who own a farm and animal sanctuary. Her enthusiasm and excitement were contagious and I just kept wondering what I could do to help the farm. It took several months and lots of learning about social media to form my plan. Oh, and I needed a good pattern of course! Once I found that pattern, I enlisted the help of Rachel’s daughter, Amber, and we decided to set a goal and raffle a crocheted horse with all proceeds going to the farm. Enter our “Blue the Brilliant”! Blue is modeled after a beautiful and mischievous horse living his best life at B Free Farm Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Blue and so many more animals like him have been rescued and given a chance to live out their days in comfort and love at the farm.
